Darnassus

Description

This Alliance capital is populated by Night Elves and is located in the Island of Teldrassil. Ruled by the Priestess of the Moon, Tyrande Whisperwind.

More info

Darnassus is the faction associated with Darnassus, the capital city of the Night Elves. The high priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and her companion Malfurion Stormrage lead from the Temple of the Moon.

History

In the aftermath of the Third War, the night elves had to adjust to their mortal existence. Such an adjustment was far from easy, and there were many night elves who could not adjust to the prospects of aging, disease and frailty. Seeking to regain their immortality, a number of wayward druids conspired to plant a special tree that would reestablish a link between their spirits and the eternal world.

With Malfurion Stormrage missing, Fandral Staghelm--the leader of those who wished to plant the new World Tree--became the new Arch-Druid. He and his fellow druids had forged ahead and planted the great tree, Teldrassil, off the stormy coasts of northern Kalimdor. However, it was corrupted by the Burning Legion and the night elves never regained their immortality.

During Cataclysm, the night elves suffered much tragedy. It was revealed Fandral poisoned Malfurion to keep him in the Emerald Dream. Currently, Fandral is a boss in Firelands, while Tyrande and Malfurion co-lead Darnassus.

Reputation

Moon Priestess Lasara, in the western part of Darnassus, sells Darnassus Tabard which grants reputation in all dungeons.

Large amounts of Darnassus reputation can be gained in the following zones: Ashenvale, Darkshore, Feralas, Stonetalon Mountains, Teldrassil, Thousand Needles. There are also daily quests available from the Argent Tournament, as well as Darnassus Writ of Commendation from the Molten Front.

Non-night elf Alliance players can purchase up to seven sabercat mounts from Lelanai in the Cenarion Enclave--with Exalted reputation.
